Lucy Porter ready to tickle Huntingdon Hall

ONE OF Britain’s top female stand-ups is set to raise plenty of laughs when she brings her best show yet to Huntingdon Hall in Worcester.

Lucy Porter, a familiar face on television and radio panel shows such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week and The Unbelievable Truth, is currently touring the UK with her show Northern Soul.

After receiving rave reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Porter takes a humorous look at whether geography shapes our destiny.

Born in Croydon to a Northern Irish dad and a Midlander mum (who met in Africa), Lucy never felt that she belonged down south.

She tried moving to Manchester, marrying a Welshman and travelling the world, but she’s still – like the littlest hobo – seeking her spiritual home.

Her set revolves around acutely funny observations that emerge naturally from family anecdotes and casual asides. Lucy jokes that reviewers always call her “deceptively clever”, but there’s little deceptive about her – she is witty and delivers a thoughtful show with winning ease and bucket loads of charm.

The show takes place on Thursday, January 30 at 8pm. Tickets cost £14 or £12 for concessions and are available from the Box Office on 01905 611427.
