Appeal to find city firework thrower

Worcester Editorial 15th Jul, 2021   0

WITNESSES are being sought after fireworks were thrown into a crowd on St Nicholas Street in the aftermath of England’s Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.

The incident took place at about 10pm on Sunday (July 11) and has been slammed as ‘extremely reckless’ by officers investigating the public order offence.

Sgt Pete Frankish from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This was extremely reckless by the person responsible, with the potential for injury being high due to the amount of people in the immediate vicinity.

“As a result of fireworks being thrown two police officers were struck but luckily were uninjured.”

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have footage of it to contact PC Figueiredo on 07814 040007 or via our website, quoting incident 544i of 11 July 2021.
