Most applications yet for university

MORE students than ever before have applied for a place at the University of Worcester.

As the city celebrates its tenth year since being granted university status in 2005, it has just received more than 12,000 applications from prospective students – an increase of five per cent on last year.

Over the last decade, the university has grown faster than any other British institution with applications rising three times faster than the national average since 2010.

Professor David Green, the university’s vice chancellor and chief executive, said: “Since being granted university status in 2005, the University of Worcester has established itself as a centre of educational excellence, and a dynamic engine for opportunity for the whole community.

“Over the last decade, we have placed constant emphasis on providing an inspiring environment in which our students can thrive, giving the best possible experience to the people whose skills will be at the very heart of the future prosperity of the region and the country.”

The annual deadline for students to apply to universities through UCAS (the University and College Admissions Service) passed in mid-January with Worcester easing past its previous best set in 2013.

“We’re delighted at the continuing increase in the University’s popularity,” Professor Green added.

“We have continued to attract high numbers of highly skilled, motivated applicants, which is testament to the university’s outstanding reputation in a number of subject areas, commitment to delivering high quality teaching, and excellent graduate employment record.

“We very much look forward to welcoming this year’s intake of students – the first of the university’s second decade – and working with them to ensure success both during their time with us, and beyond.”
