Art exhibition brings in funds

A ONE-OF-A-KIND art exhibition at the Guildhall has raised much needed funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The High Street venue played host to artistic talent from across the region, where a range of professional artists and local organisations helped to raise more than £300 for the Bath Road hospice towards its work caring for life-limited and life-threatened children.

The exhibition included a number of pieces created by children in arts and crafts sessions from Acorns, as well as work from Caro Burberry sculpture studios, pupils at Heart of Worcester College, the Lifestyle Group and the Ability Group, and photography from Bright Sky Videos.

Acorns is one of three charities supported this year by the Mayor of Worcester, Coun Roger Knight.

Mandie Fitzgerald, event organiser and member of Acorns fund-raising team said: “There were styles and mediums to suit every artistic taste and I would like to thank all the individuals and organisations who kindly donated their work.

“It was fantastic to see so many people come through the door to soak up the wonderful pieces on display.

“To be able to continue to provide vital specialist palliative care we need the public’s help to raise nearly £9million every year, so we’re very grateful for the Mayor’s support and for being able to take advantage of the Guildhall’s impressive setting.”

Items from the exhibition will be auctioned on Saturday, March 12 through auction house Biddle and Webb, with all proceeds going to Acorns.
