Cannabis plants taken in raid

Worcester Editorial 9th Dec, 2020   0

A ‘SUBSTANTIAL’ amount of cannabis plants were seized and two men were arrested after a house was searched in Worcester.

Officers found a large cannabis cultivation spanning almost every room in the Wylds Lane property during the search on Monday (December 7).

The men aged 34 and 36, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug (cannabis) and are in police custody.

Sergeant Paul Smith said: “Once inside the property it was clear to us it was a large and professional operation.

“As a result of the operation, we seized a substantial amount of plants and growing equipment which will now be destroyed.

“We believe this house was being used as part of a wider Serious Organised Crime (SOC) operation and working with our community and colleagues we will continue to disrupt and dismantle their illegal and exploitative operations.

“Acting on information from the community we have disrupted these cannabis cultivations which is part of Protect – our response to tackling serious and organised crime.”

Anyone who is aware or thinks someone is growing or selling drugs is asked to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team.
