STAFF and residents at a city care are celebrating after achieving a top set of results in a nationwide survey.

Latimer Court Care Home on Darwin Avenue, had an overall performance rating score of 928 out of one thousand in the Your Care Rating Survey.

More than a thousand homes in the UK took part in the evaluation, completed by research company Ipsos MORI, which gave residents a chance to voice their opinion on the care they receive.

Joyce Bulmer has been a resident at Latimer Court since November 2013 after her husband died. She said: “It’s lovely here, could not ask for anything more, you get your food provided, you send your washing out and it comes back hanging clean in your room.

“The staff are lovely and there’s always something to do. We go on trips and visitors come here.

She added: “My daughter came to see the home and felt no need to see anywhere else so I just moved in.”

The home has its own beauty room where residents can get their nails done and also has it’s own hairdresser.

Dorothy Capper’s husband was a resident and died before she went to live there. She said: “I suppose you could say I took his place. I was so pleased with the way he was looked after and taken care of towards the end.”

More than 21,000 service users were asked for feedback across four categories; staff and care, home comforts, choice and having a say and quality of care.

Homes in Worcester scored high overall with Perry Manor also coming out with 928, but was placed just behind Latimer Court, and Pirton Grange Specialist services scoring 801.

The North East received the highest over all regional average of 886 followed by the North West scoring 880. London received the lowest at 863

Karen Hancox, the general manager at Latimer Court, said: “We are glad that our residents value the care they receive at the home. We are so pleased with our scores, which show that life for our residents is happy and fulfilling.

“Every care home resident should be able to speak up about their care and we ensure both residents and relatives have the opportunity to voice their opinions. My door is always open and we are committed to raising standards and being transparent.”
