Chance to mark winter solstice at Fort Royal

Worcester Editorial 18th Dec, 2018   0

A CELEBRATION of the winter solstice will be held at an historic Worcester park and city residents are being invited to get involved.

The Friends of Fort Royal Park will mark the solstice, the day with the shortest amount of daylight, on Friday (December 21) from 3pm to 5.30pm.

City residents are being invited to gather at the park on Wylds Lane to say goodbye to the past year and look forward to the spring and hopes for a new year.

The special event is organised by the Friends and supported by Worcester City Council.

There will be a chance to watch the sunset over the cathedral, join the procession of light and escape the Christmas shopping.

This year, SouthCo will be leading children’s activities and refreshments will be available.’

Visitors are being invited to bring a torch or lantern to join the procession.
