Change of site as key show makes a comeback

Worcester Editorial 8th Apr, 2021   0

THE HISTORIC Worcester Show which gives local people the opportunity to put their creative and horticultural skills to the fore is set to return this summer.

After seeing last year’s event axed because of the pandemic, organisers have confirmed the show will go on in 2021 on Sunday, August 15 subject to the Government’s Covid rules.

This year the show will take place on the Pitchcroft Racecourse instead of Gheluvelt Park, ensuring there is a greater area on which to stage the event.

Many people have had the opportunity to put more time and energy into gardening, crafting, painting and cooking over the last year – and the Worcester Show is the ideal opportunity for them to show off their talent to the outside world.

There are more than 140 free competition classes to enter for all ages. In addition to gardening categories for fruit and vegetable produce, there are a large number of handicraft, cookery, art and photography classes.

There are plenty of new and exciting classes to enter this year and residents are asked to keep a look out for new classes on the theme of the Worcester Charter 400.

“We are delighted to bring back the Worcester Show this summer – this popular community event will give some much-needed fun and entertainment for the whole family,” said Gerry Leith, chair of the Worcester Show committee.

“It’s a great opportunity for people of all ages to show off their creative and gardening talent. You don’t have to be an expert to enter, enthusiasm is the only quality you need!

Entries for the show, and applications for market stalls and pitches, are now open.
