GENEROUS City Council employees have supported Worcester Community Trust’s Christmas Toys for Tots appeal by donating gifts to children in need.

As one of around 25 organisations in Worcestershire supporting the campaign, which aims to make Christmas special for disadvantaged children across the region, the City Council employees have each bought one more gift to donate to a local child.

To date, the Community Trust have collected over 2,000 toys from the participating organisations.

Half of the toys donated will be distributed through Worcester Community Trust’s six community centres, and the other half will go to Acorns Children’s Hospice, the charity chosen by City Council staff.

Rhizina Shearer, Community Partnership Officer at Worcester City Council said: “City Council staff have really enjoyed supporting the Toys for Tots campaign.

“There’s been a really large response, it’s nice to think that such a simple gesture could help make more local children happy this Christmas.”
