City protesters to march against Trump in London rally

Worcester Editorial 20th Jan, 2017   0

MEMBERS of Worcester’s Women’s Equality Party are set to descend on London this Saturday (January 21) to protest against Donald Trump as he becomes US President.

Protests are being held around the world, the day after Mr Trump is sworn in as America’s 45th President.

And members from the Worcester branch of the Women’s Equality Party will be joining a march in London which will end in a rally at Trafalgar Square.

“The results of the US election will have a massive impact on all our lives – including all of us who live in Worcester,” Worcestershire WEP branch lead, Leisa Taylor, said.

“We’re determined to stand strong in the face of racism, sexism, homophobia and all other kinds of discrimination and this is a real opportunity to show the world that tolerance and diversity at all levels is more important than ever.

“The politics of fear and division have no place in 2017.”

Worcestershire WEP was formed only 18 months ago and already has about 200 members and supporters in the county.

“We’d welcome anyone from Worcester who wants to join us on the march – men, women and children – it promises to be an historic occasion,” Leisa added.
