City youngsters back in class post COVID-19

Worcester Editorial 3rd Sep, 2020   0

YOUNGSTERS across Worcester returned to school this week, many for the first time since the Coronavirus lockdown in March.

Children of key workers remained in school after lockdown was introduced on March 23 until the end of term in July but a large number of youngsters were taught from home by parents.

Schools have introduced a number of safety measures for children of all ages and those at high schools may be asked to wear face masks in communal areas to minimise possible infection.

Many are expected to have foot the bill for the safety measures with the National Union of Headteachers warning ‘every pound spent on cleaning materials is a pound that cannot be spent on education’.
