Communications agency are latest Big Parade backers

Worcester Editorial 26th Dec, 2020   0

COUNTY creative communications agency DRPG is the latest local company to partner in next summer’s elephant parade being brought to the city by St Richard’s Hospice.

The Hartlebury-based company, which also played a key role in the hospice’s giraffe trail two years ago, will sponsor an elephant and act as an official supplier to Worcester’s Big Parade.

The DRPG elephant sculpture will be brought to life by an artist’s design and auctioned at the end of the project to raise vital funds for the free, ongoing care and support offered by St Richard’s Hospice to people with a serious progressive illness and their loved ones.

Local artists have just over a week to submit elephant designs before applications close on January 8.

Speaking about its involvement in Worcester’s Big Parade, Dale Parmenter, CEO of DRPG, said: “This is such a fantastic event for the county and for a really brilliant cause, so we are very proud to be playing a part once again.

“We look forward to contributing to what is sure to be another unforgettable experience and something for us all to look forward to next summer.”

Worcester’s Big Parade builds on the hugely successful Worcester Stands Tall giraffe trail in 2018, which saw giraffe sculptures displayed across the city before raising £210,000 for St Richard’s Hospice at auction.

Sara Matthews, Business Development Manager at St Richard’s, said: “We’re delighted to have DRPG on board as an official supplier once again after their wonderful support for the giraffes 2018.

“The DRPG-hosted auction raised a phenomenal amount towards local hospice care and ‘Girafficorn’, the beautiful mosaic sculpture from that year, still lives happily among the DRPG team at their local film studios.”

The summer 2021 art trail will also feature a collection of 35 elephant calf sculptures, decorated by schools and community groups, and displayed through city shop windows and Crowngate Shopping Centre.

While all elephant calves have now been adopted by local schools and community groups, there is still time to sponsor a large elephant.
