Community rallies to help raise funds for Marzena

HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a Worcester carer who lost her brave battle with bowel cancer at the age of 44.

Devastated colleagues of Marzena Oleksiak are now raising cash to support her family’s bid to take her ashes home to her native Poland.

The 44-year-old had only discovered her bowel cancer had returned in May before her death last Saturday (June 26).

Caring colleagues at Eclipse Homecare’s Worcester office are raising the cash to support the Wychbold family with the funeral expenses, which have added costs as her parents have asked for her to be repatriated to Poland.

Friend and colleague Lynn Brookes said: “It is very sad to announce the untimely death of one of our lovely care givers, Marzena Oleksiak.

“Sadly, during 2020, Marzena found out she had bowel cancer and so immediately had an operation and began treatment.

“The treatment proved to be successful and Marzena was able to get back to normal family life as well as come back to work once she had fully recovered.

“Unfortunately, during early May 2021, Marzena became unwell and following admittance to hospital, found that her cancer had not only returned but that it had spread to her liver and had become metastatic.

“Marzena started chemotherapy treatment to try and give her as much time as possible with her family and was determined to be strong for her children.

“Very sadly last Saturday, Marzena passed away at home,” she added.

Marzena leaves behind her partner Patryk and their two young children who are all understandably extremely upset.

“We at Eclipse Homecare would like to make a contribution to the family to help towards these costs with any money left over to be given to her children,” Ms Hodges added.

“We hope you will be able to join us in helping Marzena’s family at this very sad and difficult time.”
