County funeral directors support awareness week

Worcester Editorial 11th May, 2021   0

JACKSON Family Funeral Directors are supporting Dying Matters Awareness Week which runs until Sunday (May 16).

Aimed at opening up the conversation around death, dying and bereavement, Dying Matters Awareness Week helps to bring an important and difficult subject to the forefront, to further address the wishes of families in their darkest hour.

This year the week focuses on the importance of being ‘in a good place to die’, where there has been a dramatic increase in people dying at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Free reviews of funeral plans are being offered to help start the conversation around the taboo subject of end of life.

Jonathan Branchett, Jackson Funeral Directors’ general manager, said Dying Matters Awareness Week had always been a focal point in the year for the firm but this year communities had been affected by the pandemic.

“A sounding board is needed more than ever to discuss such a difficult subject, to help remove the stigma of discussing death.”

He added Jackson’s was always dedicated to supporting families in the community and one way it feels it can start the conversation is by offering free reviews of funeral plans.

Dying Matters Awareness Week also coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week, another subject close to the hearts of Jackson Family Funeral Directors.
