ALE LOVERS from as far afield as Malmo in Sweden descended on Worcester for the 16th annual Worcester Beer, Cider and Perry Festival.

Visitors ‘hailed the ale’ at the event at Worcester Racecourse which once again was a sell-out with many disappointed punters turned away because of the high demand.

Ale lovers were invited to sample more than 170 real ales, as well as scores of ciders, perrys and specialist wines.

Visitors were also able to satisfy their hunger as well as their thirst as five different food outlets sold everything from fish and chips to kebabs, pies and Mexican food.

Organisers of the 16th Worcester Beer, Cider and Perry Festival have raised a glass to toast another successful event.

The sell-out extravaganza broke all records once again despite people being turned away because of the huge demand.

The city’s branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) rolled out the barrel to a sell-out success at Worcester Racecourse.

Fifteen thousand tickets at £13 each – including a drinks card – were snapped up for the three-day festival with each day’s quota selling quickly.

Ale lovers from across the county and further afield sampled more than 170 real ales, as well as scores of ciders, perrys and specialist wines.

Visitors were also able to satisfy their hunger as well as their thirst as five different food outlets sold everything from fish and chips to kebabs, pies and Mexican food.

More than 20 bands and performers also provided a constant feed of music and song over the three days.

The event supported Midlands Air Ambulance, Worcester Animal Rescue Centre and GYSO (Get Your Socks Out), a male cancer research organisation.

And the prestigious vote for the festival’s most popular beer ended in a draw between Hop Market and Hop of the Morning.
