PEOPLE across Worcestershire are being challenged to reduce their amount of household waste in just 30 days.
The county council’s 30 days of zero waste campaign aims to encourage residents to take simple steps to reduce the amount they are throwing away, to help save them money and the planet.
Last year there was 115,000 tonnes of non-recyclable rubbish thrown away across Worcestershire which, as well as being expensive to deal with – it costs taxpayers £32million-a-year – it also has a huge environmental impact.
A huge amount of natural resources, water, energy and carbon emissions are used to make products which are then binned.
During the course of the 30 days, there will be a variety of hints and tips promoted to help residents with information on everything from how to minimise their waste and increase recycling, to the need to reuse and repair items and the impact of fast fashion.
