Evening of rock ‘n’ roll classics in a good cause

Worcester Editorial 2nd Apr, 2022   0

AN EXCITING evening full of the sounds of the rock ‘n’ roll scene will fill Huntingdon Hall in a fund-raising concert from a city promoter.

Music impresario John Banner will welcome the extraordinary keyboard talents of Steve Wicketts and Peter Gill next Saturday (April 9) from 7.30pm to 10pm for a charity fund-raising bonanza to have you movin’ and shakin’ all night long.

In addition to raising money for Breast Cancer UK and Prostate Cancer UK, the Two Pianos – One Rock and Roll show will see Mr Banner donate £1 from every ticket sold for what will be his 80th birthday concert to support refugees fleeing from war-torn Ukraine.

Cheltenham-based Peter has performed in some of the most popular Rock ‘n Roll theatre shows in the UK, and on stage with many famous artists including Anita Harris.

A great admirer of the maestro Steve Wicketts, Peter revealed he can’t wait to perform on the very same stage.

In nearly four decades of performing in theatres, clubs and hotels across the UK including since 2006 his homage to ‘The Killer’ Jerry Lee Lewis. He has honed his talents over the years into an amazing, powerful talent with keyboard skills to astound audiences.

Drummer Jimmy Lee will be on hand along with special guest Amelia Davis, an avid musician who has performed widely across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

From humble beginnings performing her acoustic set at local clubs, she went on to support the likes of Craig Douglas and Spencer James in his solo shows after 33 years with The Searchers.

“Peter, Steve and Amelia have done numerous shows for me in Worcester over the last few years but this is the first time – hopefully the first of many – they have all appealed together,” John added.
