Festival brings in the cash

A HOSPICE has thanked the team behind Worcester Festival for raising more than £2,000 for its care with this year’s 17-day extravaganza.

St Richard’s Hospice, based in Wildwood Drive received £2,144 raised at collections and events during the city-wide festival in August.

Tricia Cavell, fund-raising director at St Richard’s, said: “We were thrilled to receive such a fantastic donation from Worcester Festival.

“The money raised by the festival team and the community is greatly appreciated by all of us here and will contribute towards continuing our care to patients and loved ones when they need us most.”

Worcester Festival runs each year and features a diverse range of events including dance, exhibitions, history walks, craft workshops and music.

Chris Jaeger MBE, director of Worcester Festival, said: “In many ways, this was the best Worcester Festival ever.

“We had 504 events at 58 different venues and 46 different organisations involved – each figure a record for our festival. Of the events, 337 were free – helping to make it a real ‘people’s festival’.

“We were absolutely delighted to collect for St Richard’s Hospice during the Festival – it is a wonderful charity doing incredibly important work with huge sensitivity and professionalism.”
