WORCESTER Festival is about to hit the streets of the city once again and promises to be fun for the whole family.
The event will take place over three weekends, starting on Saturday (August 15) and ending on the Bank Holiday Monday (August 31).
Regular goers can see all their favourites return with Percy the Peacock, the Funky Faces Face Painters, Butterfly Puppet Theatre, The Riverside Arts Market, the Gugge 2000 band, the Swan Theatre Fête and the famous free firework display.
This year organisers have set up a family Treasure Trail where participants will be taken around the city with 20 questions that will lead them to the end, with the winners receiving a family ticket to this year’s Swan Theatre pantomime, Dick Whittington.
Other events will be held at Worcester Cathedral, Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, The Cammanadery and The Elgar School of music.
Youngsters will be kept entertained with arts and crafts, drawing classes, theatre and music workshops, a children’s ghost walk and a junior chess competition.
The University of Worcester will be hosting the opening ceremony of the 2015 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships as part of the festival.
A dog show at Worcester Woods Country Park on Sunday (August 23) will be another new additions to the summer activities.
Festival director, Chris Jaeger, said: “There are 386 events, taking place at 31 different venues, in this year’s festival so far, so of course I am excited.
“This is a wonderfully exciting time of year when people are able to come together and celebrate Worcester with a huge range of eclectic events and activities. Bring it on.”
