COUNCIL bosses have taken the wraps off a festive boost for city traders with free parking after 6pm in all of its car parks.
Shoppers heading into the centre to look for gifts and to soak up the festive atmosphere during late night opening each Thursday in December before Christmas can take advantage of the offer.
The deal kicked off on Thursday (December 3) and runs in December 10, 17 and 24.
The council is also offering drivers the chance to pay for three hours and get a full day’s parking on Sundays in December up to Christmas on December 13 and 20.
Coun Joy Squires, chair of the council’s Environment Committee, said: “This is going to be a Christmas season like no other and I’m pleased the City Council is able to provide this support to Worcester’s traders as many of them re-open their doors.
“This comes on top of grants we have provided to city businesses since the first lockdown began, which have been worth a total of more than £20million.
“I would also ask shoppers to plan their trips carefully and, if possible, go into town when fewer people are likely to be around so that it’s easier for everyone to maintain social distancing.”
