Giving youngsters a sporting chance

Worcester Editorial 10th Jul, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

SPORTY youngsters are being urged to beat the summer holiday boredom by taking part in a fun-filled five-week programme of events.

Worcester City Council has set up the scheme of free activities across 14 different venues, in a bid to help young people and families stay active and have some fun.

Cricket, tennis, football, badminton, volleyball, rugby, athletics, Frisbee and parachute games will all be on the agenda from Monday, July 28, to Friday, August 29.

The sessions exclude weekends and are open for two to 18-year-olds.

Hannah Cox, sport, art and play development manager at the city council, said: “These sporting activities are all free, on your doorstep and provide variety for all the family, getting everyone active and having fun in the local community this summer.”
