Hannah on hand to help youngsters get active

Worcester Editorial 11th Jul, 2019   0

YOUNGSTERS from St George’s CE Primary School put on their running shoes to meet British athlete Hannah England as part of a nationwide fitness drive.

‘The School Run’ has been launched by DW Fitness in a bid to encourage parents and children in the city to become more active together over the summer holidays and beyond.

The event is part of a long-standing partnership with the UK’s four national governing bodies of athletics and running; England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Athletics Northern Ireland and Welsh Athletics and aimed at raising awareness of the importance of families keeping fit together.

Last year 34 schools took part in ‘The School Run’ events nationwide, with over 2,700 participants running their route to school.

As part of the visit, youngsters picked up tops from Hannah, a British middle-distance running athlete who specialises in the 800 metres, 1500 metres and mile run. At 1500m, she is the 2011 World Championship silver medallist and finished fourth at the 2013 World Championships.
