Have your say on the transport plan

WORCESTER residents are being urged to have their say on a county council blueprint for transport in Worcestershire.

A public consultation has been launched by Worcestershire County Council until March 17 on their Local Transport Plan 4.

The transport plan sets out the County Council’s aspirations for investing in transport networks, including infrastructure, technology and services, which council chiefs have said is essential in supporting planned growth and promoting social and economic growth in the county.

The plan also includes council chiefs priorities for investment in transport, ranging from walking, cycling, rail, bus and community transport as well as highways for the next 13 years.

As part of the consultation, residents can now have their say on specific parts of the plan which will allow the County Council to gage residents reactions to their key priorities.

Potential plans put forward in the plan for Worcester include improvements to the city’s highways, walking and cycling infrastructure, passenger transport, traffic management and parking.

Coun Ken Pollock, cabinet member for Economy, Skills and Infrastructure said: “Good planning and delivery of an efficient, affordable and multi-model transport network is essential if we are going to maintain our claim to be a world class county with prosperous and healthy communities.”

“We recognise just how important improving the roads and pavements are to people, as transport affects each and every one of us on a daily basis.

“To help us get it right it’s vital that people in Worcester get in touch to tell us what they think. Every view will be carefully considered.”
