Help is on hand with Council Tax as crisis continues

Worcester Editorial 30th Mar, 2020   0

COUNCIL chiefs have revealed help is available for residents struggling to pay their Council Tax because of the Coronavirus crisis.

Worcester City Council is encouraging residents to apply for Council Tax support and reminded homeowners have the option to spread their Council Tax payments over 12 months instead of the usual ten – as long as they begin paying from April.

Working age residents who already receive Council Tax support will see their bills reduced by up to £150, depending on individual circumstances. The reduction will be made automatically once approved.

The authority has revealed 89 per cent of it goes to help other organisations run vital local services. These include adult social care, children’s services, police, fire and rescue service and libraries, as well as refuse collection, provision of leisure centres, swimming pools and parks.
