Heritage chiefs toast Government cash

Worcester Editorial 21st Oct, 2020   0

HERITAGE chiefs at the Museum of Royal Worcester are celebrating after the historic venue secured £107,275 from the Government’s £1.57billion Culture Recovery Fund.

The museum has been awarded to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future. It’s one of 1,385 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving urgently needed support.

Further rounds of funding in the cultural and heritage sector are due to be announced over the coming weeks.

Museum director Sophie Heath said: “We are absolutely delighted to achieve this award which supports us to sustain this rich local heritage in the place where it means the most.

“The funding we have received will allow us to reach out and involve our local communities through a new pop-up museum that we can take into outdoor settings, with creative and craft activities inspired by our collection and created by local artists.”
