NEW state-of-the-art street sweeping vehicles will be taking to Worcester’s streets to bolster the city’s UK-wide reputation for being clean.
The Faithful City was awarded the highest score in the UK for “area up-keep” in Provident Personal Credit’s Unbroken Britain survey last month and council chiefs hope their new investment will keep up the city’s strong reputation for cleanliness.
The three new Johnston C201 Compact Sweeper vehicles will be taking to the streets each morning to clean up fallen leaves and unwanted rubbish and will be able to clean the most difficult footpaths and pavements.
David Sutton, Service Manager for a Cleaner and Greener City, said: “We’re proud that Worcester has been named as the UK’s cleanest city, but we’re not going to rest on our laurels.
“The City Council is committed to ensuring Worcester is clean, green and safe and the arrival of these new street sweepers will help ensure we can live up to the high standards we’ve set for ourselves.”
