Hospice Christmas tree recycling campaign to return

Worcester Editorial 26th Dec, 2019   0

TEAMS of volunteers will step out across the county in January to collect and recycle Christmas trees in support of hospice care.

St Richard’s Hospice, in Worcester, is preparing to hold its third Christmas Tree Recycling Campaign – and hopes it will be bigger and better than ever.

Over two days, volunteers from a host of organisations will collect and recycle hundreds of real Christmas trees from homes – in return for a donation towards the hospice’s free care to patients and loved ones.

Last year’s campaign saw around 1,187 trees collected and chipped – raising more than £16,000 for the Worcester-based hospice.

Jayne Sargeant, hospice fund-raiser, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be providing this fantastic service to people across the county once again.

“This year, many new volunteers are taking part, so we hope to be able to reach more people – and raise even more for the hospice this time round.

“Avoid the hassle of getting rid of your tree – while supporting our care at the same time. What could be better?

“I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all the incredible people stepping up to help volunteer with the campaign. We couldn’t do it without you!”

Trees will be collected on Friday, January 10 – with recycling taking place until Saturday, January 11.

Volunteers will be out collecting trees in the following postcode areas: WR1, WR2, WR3, WR4, WR5, WR7, WR8, WR9, WR10, WR11, WR12, WR13 and WR14.

The deadline to register trees for collection is Tuesday, January 7.
