A POPULAR city charity has topped off a momentous 10th anniversary by raising more than £10,000 at a rugby match.

Acorns Children’s Hospice’s charity matchday clash between Worcester Warriors and Harlequins on Sunday, January 3, saw fans dig deep in support of the hospice – which opened its doors to care for life-limited and life-threatened children a decade ago.

As part of the ongoing partnership with the Bath Road charity, Warriors took to the field wearing limited edition matchday shirts designed with help from children at the hospice.

The shirts, which quickly sold out, were available to purchase from the Sixways store and online, and all the profits from sales were donated to Acorns.

Louise Arnold, director of fund-raising at Acorns said: “This is the perfect conclusion to what has been a significant 10th anniversary year for our hospice.

“On behalf of everyone at Acorns I want to thank Warriors and all the fans for their incredible support at the match and throughout the year.

“The final score may not have been the one we wanted, but the fund-raising total is fantastic and is vital in helping us continue providing our specialist care for children across the region.”
