ITV pull live shows in White City 'security alert'

ITV’s flagship morning shows This Morning and Loose Women have been forced off the air because of a security alert close to the studios.

Viewers of This Morning were left confused when the programme ‘started again’ just after 12.15pm with the live broadcast replaced with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield apologising for not being with viewers – despite having been on air for more than two hours.

The next scheduled show, Loose Women, has been replaced with a pre-recorded show.

It was a bomb threat that took the show off air – but the Metropolitan Police have since confirmed that the security incident, which was reported nearby to the studios, has been diffused.

“At 11:14hrs on Thursday, 10 March, police were called to reports of a security alert at Wood Lane, White City. It was reported a suspicious item had been discovered,” a Met statement read.

“The area was evacuated as a precaution and White City and Wood Lane tube stations were temporarily closed. The incident was stood down shortly before 12:49hrs. An investigation is ongoing.”

ITV has resumed live broadcasting in the past few minutes with the Lunchtime News which is broadcast from another part of London.
