KINGS’ Hawford, a prep school in the King’s Worcester Foundation, has welcomed a new head at the start of the summer term

Jennie Phillips has joined King’s Hawford from Monmouth School Girls’ Prep School where she was head.

She has relocated to Worcester with husband Eddie and daughters Amelia and Daisy and like all heads within the King’s Foundation, will live on site so she can fully immerse herself into school life.

Jennie was educated at Oxford High School, and read Education at the University of Exeter, specialising in Mathematics and Art. During her career she has worked at St Peter’s Prep School in Lympstone and Badminton Junior School in Bristol. She was appointed to her new role at King’s Hawford from a dynamic field of sitting Heads and Deputies, and was the unanimous choice of the headmaster, governors and the staff who met her.

Reflecting upon her new role, Jennie said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at King’s Hawford, and of course the wider King’s Foundation. The school has a wonderful sense of community which is clearly held dear by parents, staff and pupils alike.

“After such a warm welcome I am looking forward to working collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents and pupils to ensure the very best academic, cocurricular and pastoral provision for our children.”

Jennie’s appointment is a big milestone for the King’s Foundation as she is the first female head in its near 500-year history.

Headmaster of the King’s Foundation, Gareth Doodes said: “I am very much looking forward to working with Jennie as I know she will bring drive, energy and an abundance of enthusiasm to King’s Hawford.

“As a Foundation we are extremely proud of the fact that Jennie will be our first female Head and I know everyone within our community is looking forward to working with Jennie as she continues to take King’s Hawford forward.”
