Let’s Vaccinate Britain is Labour party’s message

Worcester Editorial 14th Jan, 2021   0

A LONG-SERVING Labour stalwart and Worcester resident has urged people across the city to back a campaign to support the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Roger Jenkins, 82, of Lansdowne Road in Worcester, is encouraging local people to sign up as steward volunteers, to help the National Health Service with administering the vaccine as quickly as possible.

The #LetsVaccinateBritain campaign was launched last week by Labour Party Leader Sir Keir Starmer, in partnership with the Trades Union Congress and the Daily Mirror. The campaign calls for people to volunteer with the NHS, combat misinformation about the vaccine, for community leaders to champion the vaccine and for people to speak to their friends, neighbours and relatives about the importance of getting the vaccine.

Mr Jenkins said: “I recently received the first half of my vaccination on December 18 at Turnpike House on Newtown Road in Worcester.

“It is so important that we roll-out the vaccine as quickly as possible so that we can protect everyone, especially those who are most vulnerable.

“I would urge all Worcester residents who can safely do so, to sign up to volunteer with the NHS and support the vaccination programme. Together, we can defeat this virus which has done so much to damage our communities and is holding Worcester and the West Midlands back.”
