‘Lockdown academy’ offers chance to brush up on some key skills

Worcester Editorial 20th Jun, 2020   0

A NEW ‘lockdown academy’ has been launched offering access to a programme of free ‘bitesize’ online courses.

Organised by Worcestershire County Council the courses cover a wide range of digital skills that could prove really useful once lockdown is fully lifted.

The ‘Accenture Digital Skills’ courses from leading education provider, FutureLearn are designed to help people build confidence about digital skills, which they can then take forward to help gain a job or begin the process of starting a business.

In addition learners will receive a certificate for each course completed.

Councillor Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “We appreciate learning ‘online’ can be a very different experience to conventional face to face learning and is not always as easily accessible for people unfamiliar with digital technology.”

The introduction sessions will be accessible using Zoom and will provide potential learners with an opportunity to gain advice and support from library and learning staff regarding online learning.

The course webinars will take place at 11am on Wednesday mornings. They all start at 11am and the full list of sessions available cover: User Experience – June 24, Web Analytics – July 1, Mobile – July 8, Retail – July 15.

To register for a webinar or to find out more about the introductory sessions, e-mail [email protected] detailing which session you would like to attend.
