Makers sew up fund-raising for county Haven

Worcester Editorial 18th Jul, 2020   0

CARING sewers from across Worcester and Malvern have swapped sewing scrubs and PPE for the NHS for sewing and selling face masks to raise cash for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.

The pink masks represent the popular charity’s colour and come in different sizes to suit men, women and children.

They also come in their own plastic bag for added hygiene. Each mask costs £5 with all the money donated to the charity.

The ‘Marvellous Malvern Makers’ group was set up by Mandi Bradley, Kathy Leather and Deb Holt to create these essential items.

“The Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is a charity very close to the hearts of many of the Malvern Makers and its NHS Breast Care teams are phenomenal,” Kathy said.

“We realise by making these face masks we can also help fund-raise for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and the wonderful work it does supporting men and women in Worcestershire with their breast cancer diagnosis.

Elaine Scrafton from the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven charity team has been involved with Kathy and the Marvellous Malvern Makers to support this project.

“Kathy has long been a dedicated supporter of the Worcestershire Breast Unit and our charity and we thank her and the team massively for this continued support. We all have to wear masks in certain places and situations, so let’s make them pink!”

The masks are available from Anja Potze Jewellers in Friar Street, Barnards’s Green Post Office in Malvern, Tina Iacovelli’s shop in Belle Vue Terrace Isabella Rose in Pershore.
