AN OUTSPOKEN city and county councillor has claimed immigration has become a ‘running sore’ in British politics and called for the ‘unfit for purpose’ UK Border Force to be scrapped.
Coun Alan Amos made the remarks following the resignation of Home Secretary Amber Rudd on Monday in the continuing row over whether immigration targets existed at the Home Office during her tenue and the fall out from the Windrush scandal.
She was replaced by Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid but speaking to the Observer, the city councillor slammed immigration controls at Britain’s borders and labelled the Border Force ‘breathtakingly incompetent and unprofessional’
“It should be no surprise we already have at least 650,000 illegal immigrants in this country.
Clearly, both the Border Force and immigration are out of control so the first thing Sajid Javid must do is to abolish that agency immediately as it is completely unfit for purpose,” he said
“The lesson from this saga is not that we must loosen up on removing illegal immigrants but rather that we must tighten up on our borders and apart from the Windrush generation and others who are legal remove this growing army of illegal immigrants more quickly.
“They are receiving free NHS treatment, free education, free housing, and goodness knows what other benefits, and it is completely unfair to all those immigrants who come to this country legally and go through the system properly.”
Coun Amos said immigration was the biggest factor in persuading people to vote for Brexit and said politicians refused to discuss the issue openly.
“Far from going away, has become a running sore in British politics. I am quite sure the left-wing liberal establishment and the politically-correct brigade will rush to criticise but I will continue to speak out on behalf of the silent majority of voters because those hypocrites never will.
“Instead of endlessly calling people racists, we need to have a mature debate about the enormous demographic changes that are going on, not ignoring them or hoping they will go away,” he added.
