Motorcycle procession to accompany much-loved Daisy to her 'final party'

AN EMOTIONAL procession of motorcycles will accompany a brave county youngster on her final journey following a brave fight with Down’s Syndrome.

The life of ‘Little Duck’, Daisy Severn will be remembered tomorrow (Saturday) by her loving parents Sarah and Paul with a procession from Worcester to Fladbury, where her funeral will be held.

The three-year-old died unexpectedly on February 26 from pneumonia.

Alongside the standard funeral cortege, a large number of motorcycles will accompany Daisy on her last journey as some family, friends and a number of those who knew her are members of various motorcycle organisations.

The family and those celebrating Daisy’s life aim to cause as little inconvenience as possible and have asked if the procession does pass for commuters to wait and allow the convoy to stay together.

“We want to celebrate Daisy’s final party, and the procession accompanying her, along with the standard funeral vehicles, will have a large number of motorbikes,” Paul and Sarah said.

“We aim to cause as little inconvenience as possible to the public but if you are required to wait for us to pass please take that moment to think about your own family and friends.

“And, those that we have lost whether it be recently or further back in time and whose memories and shared moments we treasure in our times of quiet, calm and solitude,” they added.

A number of Paul and Sarah’s colleagues at West Mercia Police will be giving up their rest days and annual leave to take part in a guard of honour for her service organised by Sergeant Pete Frankish.

“Please hold your children and family that bit closer. We never expected, even with her prenatal Down Syndrome diagnosis, that we would only be blessed with three years with our daughter,” they said.

“But, we are lucky to have so many memories with her we can treasure and to have seen how freely she shared her joy, smiles, waves and high-fives with others, including strangers we passed on walks into town, on trips to the park or at the supermarket.

“It’s said often, but please live every day like it’s your last. Tell family and friends what they mean to you and take no moment for granted.”

Daisy’s devoted to parents paid tribute to Jackson’s Family Funeral Directors, Simon and Susan Elms, Shaun Jefferies, Rosie Stone, Fergus Green, Positive About Down Syndrome, Happylands Day Nursery, A Shift Response at Worcester and the West Mercia Policing Command Team.

West Mercia Police Chief Constable Pippa Mills and many officers and staff from West Mercia will be in attendance.

“The loss of Daisy from Paul and Sarah’s lives so suddenly is heart-breaking. I have heard so many positive stories about how wonderful Daisy was, how she brought joy to all around her,” she said

“This tragic loss has impacted the whole West Mercia family, Daisy was a wonderful little girl and her light shone bright.”
