CREATIVE members of a Worcester theatre company are stocking up on little paper umbrellas ans straws ahead of the opening of Shakers Cocktail Bar.

The Swan Theatre Amateur Company will take to the stage at the Vesta Tilley Studio from August 22 to August 26 for their production of Shakers Re-stirred.

STAC are bringing the John Godber and Jane Thorton show to life during the Worcester Festival and invite city theatre lovers to re-live the cocktail culture of the 1980s and 90s.

This acutely-observed, adult comedy follows the stories of four long-suffering waitresses as, rushed off their feet, underpaid and overworked, they cope with some difficult customers while relating their own dreams and disappointments.

Whether you prefer to do a Vodka Hula or go Between The Sheets with a Bosom Caresser, you will enjoy the tales they tell and the music you remember.

The four talented actors are required to play slobs, yobs and yuppies as well as their waitress characters, switching at speed to bring this retro bar alive.

Director, Jane Lush said: “It’s been challenging but very rewarding to direct a play I have taken part in.

“It’s given me much more of an insight into what the playwright is trying to create and these four girls will definitely do it justice.

Tickets are priced at £10 and £9 for concessions and are available from the Worcester Live Box Office on 01905 611427. Any remaining tickets will be sold from 45 minutes before the start of that night’s performance at the Swan Theatre’s Box Office.
