On your bikes for family tour ride

Worcester Editorial 5th Sep, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

FAMILIES are being invited to saddle up and cycle the route of this year’s Aviva Tour Ride for free.

The Family Ride – which coincides with the Aviva Tour Ride – is a chance for Worcester residents to get on their bikes and be apart of an elite sporting event on Sunday October, 4.

The race will accommodate cyclists of all ages and ability, taking the keen riders on a self-guided leisurely route around the city’s top landmarks.

The three and a half mile flat and traffic free route, will follow Worcester’s riverside between Sabrina Bridge and Diglis Bridge and pass the iconic Cathedral.

Coun John Smith, said: “If you haven’t used your bike for a while then the Family Ride might be the perfect opportunity to cycle at your own pace in some beautiful riverside surroundings.

“The Family Ride is free to enter and the start and finish will be on Worcester Racecourse, where there will be lots of interesting stalls in the event village.”

Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership is hosting the 2015 Aviva Tour Ride, the official sportive of the Tour of Britain, which allows riders – including former World Champion Hugh Porter MBE, who will be cycling to celebrate his 75th birthday – to experience some of the city’s top cycling routes.

Visit the Aviva Tour Ride website at www.tourride.co.uk or contact Luke Murphy on 01932 831485 for more information.
