A DISTINCTIVE new sign has been revealed at one of Worcester’s most popular parks.
The new sign was unveiled at the entrance to Gheluvelt Park, at the junction with Barbourne Road and Barbourne Lane, which also incorporates an events board to promote activities in the park.
It has been given a distinctive design to make sure it remains in keeping with the park’s heritage and has been made and installed by city companies and experts.
The frame and events board are made of power-coated steel, while the lettering is made of brushed stainless steel.
Melvyn Stone of Melv’s Weld in Powick is responsible for the fabrication and installation of the sign, while the laser cutting of the lettering was done by K & R Laser services in Blackpole.
The finishing touches of brushing and polishing of the stainless steel was carried out by R & K Wadley Polishing, also of Powick.
Stuart Minchin, Worcester City Council Community Engagement Officer, said: “We wanted to make this entrance to the park stand out more and we also needed a better way of promoting events in the park like the annual Worcester Show.
“We’ve used design styles from around the park in this new sign. The font is Times New Roman, the same as the lettering on the main gates, and the brushed steel look is taken from another sign at the Waterworks Road entrance.”
