Paying a birthday tribute

Worcester Editorial 11th Jul, 2021   0

A ROADSIDE art installation to pay tribute to the NHS on its 73rd birthday was created by members of Broadheath with Rushwick WI.

The decorated willow heart, placed at the roadside on Martley Road in Lower Broadheath as part of celebrations for NHS Thank You Day on Monday.

It was accompanied by a board bearing a rainbow and the message ‘Thank you to our wonderful NHS from Broadheath with Rushwick WI’.

The group’s president, Angela Cogger, said she had very personal reasons for producing and decorating the heart.

She said: “I cannot thank the NHS enough for taking care of a member of my family and they continue to do so.”

The friendly daytime WI has continued to meet online throughout lockdown, on the second Wednesday morning of the month with a range of interesting and entertaining speakers talking to them from across the UK and even further afield, as well as craft demonstrations and quizzes.

They plan to resume face-to-face meetings at Broadheath Village Hall, this September.
