Radiographer on final lap of cancer centre challenge

A COUNTY radiographer has smashed his £1,000 target for the Oncology Centre at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital as time ticks down to the end of his challenge.

Throughout October, caring Jeremy Burton has been doing a daily sprint triathlon to raise money for the centre where he works as a Therapeutic Radiographer.

Each day, come rain or shine, Jeremy has faced a 750metre swim, a total of 20km on his bike and a five km run. By Saturday (October 31) he would have notched up 23.25km of swimming, cycled 620km and run 155km.

All of the money raised will go towards the services offered at Worcester Oncology Centre which serves patients from across the county.

“As a therapeutic radiographer, I work as part of a team to scan, plan and deliver radiotherapy treatment to cancer patients across the region,” he said.

“As part of my challenge I am hoping to promote the benefits of exercise and staying active, which can be as simple as cycling or walking to work instead of driving.
