A WORCESTER retro gamer has kicked off a 24 hour fund-raiser for St Richard’s Hospice on the classic football game Championship Manager 01/02.
Rick Holloway has stepped back in time for take the managerial hotseat at Portuguese side Imortal FC in the game which has enjoyed a renaissance during the pandemic as managers bid to take their chosen teams to glory.
Fund-raisers for the NHS were held during lockdown while a 24 hour marathon also took place to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week last month as lovers of the game came together to support such worthy causes.
The Worcester gamer began his effort at midday today (Tuesday) and will play until midday tomorrow (Wednesday) in order to raise as much as possible for the county hospice.
“All monies donated will be for St Richard’s Hospice, a worthwhile charity who do such good work, also this charity event will be in memory of family members that I have lost over the years and for other friends that have lost someone close to them,” he said.
“I’ve lost many an hour playing the game I love, but for a worthy cause and charity makes it even more special.”
Rick has raised more than £1,300 for different charities in the past and hopes football fever will grip the nation as he attempts to lead Imortal FC to glory.
