Worcester Editorial 4th Oct, 2020   0

ONE of Worcestershire’s leading independent schools has welcomed a new member of staff.

Ellie King has joined as a primary school teacher at The River School in Worcester as its pupil numbers continues to grow.

Mrs King, who is originally from Hereford, is teaching Maths, Science, English, PSHCE – Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education – and French to Year, History to Year 5 and 6 and Geography to Year 7 and 8.

Mrs King said : “The River School is my first job since completing my degree at the University of Worcester in Primary Initial Teacher Education.  While I was studying I had a placement at the school which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I am absolutely thrilled with my new role in such a wonderful school.”

Adrian Parsonage, headteacher at The River School, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mrs King to the school; she brings with her both passion and enthusiasm as well as a true sense of the school’s purpose.  We have more staff than at any other time in the school’s history, an indication of our continuing success.

“We look forward to a really good year in 2021, with plans to develop the school in new ways for the benefit of not only our own pupils but our wider community too.”

Mrs King concluded : “I had my heart set on becoming a teacher from a very young age.  During my GCSE year I led a Latin and Classics club for primary aged children and since then set myself a clear pathway to becoming a teacher.  My aim is to be a positive role model to my students, encourage their independent thinking and self esteem and to encourage them to be the very best versions of themselves that they can be.”
