AS TRAFFIC levels increase with the easing of the lockdown restrictions, the county council’s road maintenance teams have surface dressed almost 365 miles worth of highways to ensure they are safe for drivers.
It equates to more than 35,000 square metres of road and teams have also repaired over 6,000 damaged carriageways, emptied 8,000 gullies, cut nearly 5,000 miles of grass verges and responded to more than 100 out-of-hours calls across the county.
Coun Alan Amos, cabinet member for Highways, said: “Our highways teams have been brilliant during a really difficult year so far.”
He added they supported motorists in February when Worcestershire was one of the worst flood-hit areas and kept roads safe for key workers so they could get where they needed to be.
Nick Goddard, Ringway regional director said he was incredibly proud of the whole Worcestershire team’s efforts.
They had worked hard in extremely difficult conditions, following new safety guidelines and practising social distancing to keep themselves, their colleagues and the public safe and keeping local highways well-maintained.
