Showing off a slice of his experience

A WORCESTER butcher has organised a special masterclass for his customers to celebrate 30 years working in the city.

Rob Underhill, who has worked at Asda in Worcester since it opened four and a half years ago, put on the exclusive butcher’s workshop to reveal some of his top tips.

The butcher’s trade runs deep within Rob’s veins as his father, grandfather and great grandfather were all butchers and during this time Rob has been able to build up a very comprehensive butcher’s skill set, and also a loyal customer base.

The attendees were treated to an introductory talk by Rob in the store, followed by a practical demonstration at the butcher’s counter.

Rob tackled such topics as choosing the correct meat and cut, how best to prepare meat and what Asda does to ensure that the meat they serve is of the best possible quality.

Rob said: “I have been a butcher locally for many years now, I always try to offer friendly advice to my customers when I can, because, over the years I have picked up a trick or two.

“When it was suggested that I put on a workshop, I jumped at the idea, it has been an absolute pleasure serving Worcester customers, I really wanted to thank them for their continued support.”

General Store Manager at Asda Worcester, Rachel Stokes, said: “Roy is an asset to the store, he has been providing well informed friendly advice to his customers for years, we are so lucky to have such an enthusiastic and skilled employee”.
