A WORCESTER sporting organisation and leisure centre have joined forces to offer grants to talented sportspeople.

Sport Worcester with support from Freedom Leisure’s Sports, Arts, Play and Development team is offering grants to help increase provision and participation in sport at all levels.

The organisation is offering a grant of up to £500 to help local clubs increase standards, development, and participation, also offering grants of up to £250 to help talented and gifted individuals in their pursuit of elite sports performance.

Triathlete Georgina Jeynes Cupper, who represented Worcestershire in the under 18s, 16s and 14s County Cup last season, was recently awarded £300 by Sport Worcester towards the purchase of new tennis equipment. She is currently the highest ranked female tennis player in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Freedom Leisure’s Regional Development Manager, Hannah Cox said: “We delighted to be supporting Sport Worcester as these grants can help change and support gifted and talented athletes lives as well as help support local clubs drive participation. I would highly recommend that local clubs and individuals apply.”

Applications must be received by 4pm on Friday, April 8 to be considered for the next round of funding, although applications can be submitted throughout the year.

To apply and for more information, go to www.sportworcester.org.uk or contact Hannah Cox on 07710 708867.
