FLOOD levels in Worcester look set to rise with a predicted peak of between four and four and a half metres on Sunday (February 20), the Environment Agency (EA) have revealed.

The River Severn is already swollen from the impact of Storm Eunice and with further rain forecast EA chiefs confirmed levels would rise over the weekend.

Stourport, Holt Fleet, Worcester, Kempsey, Severn Stoke, Upton upon Severn, South Quay, Diglis Parade and the Hylton Road towpath all look set to be affected.

Flooding from drains may also affect the city’s racecourse and the County Cricket ground at New Road.

While the river may only reach between 3.6 and 3.8metres in Bewdley, higher figures are expected downstream.

Figures of between 3.8metres and 4.3metres are predicted for Diglis, with Kempsey Yacht Club seeing levels of six to 6.5metres

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Our staff are checking defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near local rivers, which may be flooded,” the Environment Agency said.

Figures will be updated throughout the weekend.
