Student Beth honoured for her hard work with union

A WORCESTER student has received a special award recognising her role in student life alongside her academic studies.

Beth Fuller, 20, of Northwick Avenue, who has just finished the second year of a Midwifery degree, was named Society Personality of the Year at Worcester Students’ Union’s annual awards.

The award recognises someone who works hard behind the scenes and Beth won for her role in the Christian Union.

The former Bishop Perowne CE College and Worcester Sixth Form College pupil has attended the Christian Union since she started university in September 2015 and just before the end of her first year was elected as Secretary, a role she has continued in since.

This involves organising weekly meetings and events throughout the year and the society won ‘event of the year’ for the Carol Service in December.

“I feel it’s a massive privilege to have won this award. I couldn’t have done the work I did without the help of the other committee members; we worked so well as a team and by the end of the year we’ve grown so close as friends,” she said.

“I have absolutely loved university so far. It’s been challenging juggling placement, university work, assignments, exams and Christian Union, but I wouldn’t change it at all.”

The former Northwick Manor Primary School pupil is now looking forward to qualifying as a midwife next year and going to work.

“I would definitely recommend getting involved in a society whilst at university,” she added.

“It means you can branch out and meet new people whilst doing something you love. It has been so helpful for me and my university experience.

“Getting to know some great people and getting involved in a society is really exciting.”
