Students play their part in driving event

STUDENTS at the Heart of Worcestershire College put their make-up skills to the test at a series of powerful workshops aimed at reducing car crashes.

Dying 2 Drive, an annual event which is organised by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFS), is designed to make young people aware of the dangers of driving by holding a variety of information workshops and staging a realistic car crash to reflect the reality of reckless driving.

To make the car crash scene realistic, college theatrical and media make-up students used their skills to create ‘injuries’ on volunteers who were acting out the roles of the car accident victims.

As well as supporting the event, the students also learnt about the dangers of driving under the influence, cycling safety and reducing speed when operating vehicles.

Pete Hope, from HWFS, said: “On behalf of HWFRS I would like to formally record my thanks for the support shown the college and the students over the last week. They arrived punctually, conducted themselves with the upmost professionalism and are a credit to both themselves and the college.”
