THE ARTISITIC Director of Worcester Repertory Company has spoken of his delight at bringing Dick Whittington to the city as the popular production celebrates its golden anniversary.

The Worcester Repertory Company gathered at the Guildhall on Saturday (September 5) to give residents a taste of what is to come at the Swan Theatre when their production of Dick Whittington hits the stage on Monday, November 30 until Sunday, January 3.

The actors made their way through the city centre to show off their elaborate costumes, take selfies with parents and children and also let Ginny the cook, the typical pantomime dame, loose on some unsuspecting Worcester gentlemen.

Dick Whittington will mark the Swan Theatre’s golden anniversary and tells the story of a poor boy from Gloustershire who makes his way to London to seek his fortune and see of the streets really are paved with gold.

Ben Humphrey, who starred as Dick Whittington in the 2009 production, will directing this year’s performance and will also appear as Ginny the Cook.

The show promises to be the perfect Christmas treat with songs, dances by city based performing arts company, The Academy, and the traditional pantomime gags that will keep all ages entertained.

And Chris Jaeger, artistic director of the Worcester Repertory Company and director of the Swan Theatre, said: “We are very excited about performing one of the most popular pantomimes in the repertoire for the Swan Theatre’s Golden Anniversary year.

“We have a hugely talented cast and this year’s pantomime will be all-singing, all-dancing family entertainment of the very highest quality.”

Tickets costs £12.95 and can be bought from the box office from Huntingdon Hall, by calling 01905 6111427 or via www.theswantheatre.co.uk
