A MOTHER-of-two will take a leap of faith when she takes part in a daring skydive in memory of her dad.
Sarah Booth, a chiropractor from Kemerton near Bredon, will take on the adrenaline-fuelled challenge on Father’s Day, June 19, in aid of St Richard’s Hospice, the charity that cared for her dad, John Smith, before his death in 2010.
Taking place at Hinton, in the Hedges Airfield, Brackley, the skydivers will experience the adrenalin rush of plunging 10,000 feet out of a plane at 120mph, harnessed to an experienced parachute instructor, before coming to a safe landing in front of friends and family.
Among those supporting Ms Booth will be her husband, daughter, aged seven, and son, aged one.
She said: “It is especially poignant for me to do my parachute jump on Father’s Day in honour of my dad and for the amazing work of St Richard’s. My dad, John, died at St Richard’s in April 2010 after a three-year battle with cancer. Aged 59. He was my hero and a very special dad, husband and grandad.
“The amazing care and compassion all the staff gave to Dad and to us all as a family made the last ten days of his life much easier to bear as well as the support through his illness. We will be forever grateful. We were all treated with kindness and given so much support. St Richard’s is such a special place and I want to support other families in our local area who are going through the most difficult time in their lives.”
